If you are a founder doing sales yourself, you probably already ask Claude or ChatGPT to research a company before a call or to rough out a cold email. The Amplemarket MCP puts Amplemarket's prospect database, your lists, your sequences and your inbox inside that same conversation, so the assistant works with real sales data instead of whatever it remembers from training.

Amplemarket announced its MCP server on March 6, 2026. By September 2026 it covered account search, sequence creation and lead enrollment, plus analytics, workflows and inbox management, and Amplemarket says the server now exposes more than 50 tools. This guide shows how a founder with no sales team can use it: how to connect it, which model to run it on, and a weekly routine you can copy prompt by prompt.

1. What the Amplemarket MCP is

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets an AI assistant connect to an outside tool and use its real data. Amplemarket's MCP server is that connection for Amplemarket: once it is connected, you ask in plain English and the assistant calls Amplemarket's tools on your behalf.

Because MCP is an open standard, Amplemarket works in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Grok Bot, and in any other client that supports MCP. Amplemarket's connection guide groups the tools like this:

  • Searcher: search people and companies with the same filters as Amplemarket's Searcher (title, seniority, department, location, industry, company size and more), up to 100 results a page, plus saved searches and a company's open job postings.
  • Enrichment: profile data for a person by email, LinkedIn URL or name and company, with the option to reveal email and phone, and company details such as industry, size, funding and tech stack.
  • Contacts and accounts: your existing contacts and accounts, their activity history, notes, and Amplemarket's latest research on an account (a summary, a relevance rating and key signals).
  • Lead lists and sequences: create lists, add or remove leads, build draft sequences step by step, enroll leads with their own personalized fields, and pause, resume or launch a sequence.
  • Exclusion list: check emails and domains before you contact them, and add the ones you never want to reach.
  • Duo: your messaging settings (value propositions, tone of voice, sequence instructions), your tracked competitors, and the leads Duo recommends, which you can accept, schedule, dismiss or regenerate.
  • Analytics, inbox, tasks and calls: questions about your outbound results in plain English, your Unibox threads and reply drafts, your task queue, and call transcripts with AI summaries.

The point for a founder is simple: the thinking you already do with an assistant and the sales data you need for it now sit in one place.

2. Connect it in under a minute

There is no API key to copy. The MCP signs in with OAuth: a browser window opens, you sign in to Amplemarket and approve access. Each person authenticates individually, and the assistant only sees what your own Amplemarket account is allowed to see.

In Claude: in Amplemarket, open Settings, then Integrations, then Claude. Click Connect (the Add connector dialog opens with Amplemarket filled in), click Continue, then Add, and approve the request in the sign-in popup. Claude only allows custom connectors on its Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans; Amplemarket says it is working on a listing in Claude's Connectors Directory, which would make it available on every plan. On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner or Primary Owner first has to enable the connector for the organization, and each person still signs in on their own.

In ChatGPT: in Amplemarket, open Settings, then Integrations, then ChatGPT. Click Connect to open the Amplemarket plugin page in ChatGPT, click Install plugin, then Sign in with Amplemarket, and approve the request.

Anywhere else: add https://mcp.amplemarket.com/mcp as a custom MCP connector in your AI tool, then sign in when it asks.

To check the connection, ask the assistant who it is signed in as. The MCP has a tool for exactly that, and the answer should be your own Amplemarket user and account.

3. Pick a model that can carry a multi-step job

The model you run matters more here than in an ordinary chat, because outbound work chains several tools in a row. Amplemarket's own connection guide sorts models into three groups:

  • Recommended for the best results: Claude Opus, the flagship GPT model and Gemini Pro. These handle multi-step prospecting, sequence building, inbox triage and analytics questions reliably.
  • Fine for simple tasks: Claude Sonnet, GPT Mini and Gemini Flash. Good for a single call such as searching for people, adding leads to a list or checking a sequence, but they can lose the thread on longer jobs.
  • Not recommended: Claude Haiku, GPT Nano and Gemini Flash Lite. Amplemarket says these tend to misuse tools or miss steps; if you must use one, set its reasoning effort to high.

For the routine below, which strings research, lists and sequences together, start with a model from the first group.

4. A weekly outbound routine, prompt by prompt

What follows is a routine for a founder who sells one or two days a week, written as prompts you can paste. The prompts are examples: change the industry, titles and places to your own market. Nothing here sends a single email until you decide it should.

Monday: tell Amplemarket who you sell to and how you sound

Start by writing your positioning into Amplemarket once, so every draft later starts from it.

"Show me my messaging settings. Then update my value propositions to: we help seed-stage fintech companies pass their first SOC 2 audit without hiring a security engineer. Keep the tone direct and plain, no buzzwords."

Then turn your ideal customer into a saved search you can rerun every week:

"Find heads of engineering and CTOs at fintech companies in the US with 20 to 200 employees. Save it as 'ICP: fintech, 20-200'."

Tuesday: research accounts before you touch a contact

Founders lose the most time on research, and this is where the MCP earns its keep. Ask for companies first, then for the reasons to contact each one now:

"Search for fintech companies in New York with 50 to 200 employees that raised money recently. For the top ten, pull Amplemarket's account research and tell me which three look most relevant and why."

Open job postings are one of the clearest signals a company has the problem you solve:

"Is any of these companies hiring for security or compliance roles? List the postings."

Wednesday: build the list, and check it before you use it

"Create a list called 'Fintech outbound, November' and add the heads of engineering at the three companies you picked, with their LinkedIn URLs."

Before anyone on that list hears from you, check them against your exclusion list. It is the step founders skip, and the one that keeps you from emailing a customer, an investor or someone who asked not to hear from you again:

"Check whether any of these emails or domains are on my exclusion list. Add our investors' domains to the exclusion list if they are not on it already."

Thursday: draft the sequence, read it, then launch it

The MCP builds a sequence as a draft first, step by step, and launching it is a separate status change. Use that gap to read every step yourself.

"Create a draft sequence called 'Fintech SOC 2, November' with three email steps three days apart, using my messaging settings. Personalize the first line of each email from the account research you pulled on Tuesday. Do not launch it."

"Show me the full sequence with every step's content."

When the copy reads like you wrote it:

"Enroll the leads from 'Fintech outbound, November' in that sequence and launch it."

If you use Duo, review the leads it recommends the same way. Accepting or scheduling a Duo lead lets you edit the AI-drafted steps before anything is sent.

Before every call: one prompt of meeting prep

"Tell me about jane@acme.com before my call tomorrow: her role, her company's size and funding, and every past touchpoint we have had with her."

That pulls the person's profile, the company's details and your own activity history in one answer, which is the five minutes of prep most founders skip.

Friday: read what worked

Amplemarket's analytics tool answers questions in plain English, so the weekly review is a conversation:

"Which of my sequences had the best reply rate in the last 30 days, and which step got the most replies?"

"Show me unread replies in my inbox from this week's sequences and draft an answer to each for me to review."

The reply drafts land in Unibox as drafts. You read them and send the ones you agree with.

5. Guardrails that keep it safe

An assistant with access to your sales tools can act fast, so set up the routine so that nothing irreversible happens without you:

  • Keep sequences in draft until you have read them. The MCP creates sequences as drafts, and launching is a separate step. Ask for the full content before you launch.
  • Check the exclusion list before every new list. It takes one prompt and prevents the worst mistakes.
  • Remember that enrichment uses your Amplemarket credits. Revealing emails and phone numbers for a hundred people is a real cost, so enrich the shortlist, not the whole search.
  • Use a strong model for long jobs. A weaker model is fine for one lookup but can skip a step in a chain, and skipped steps in outbound are the costly kind.
  • Completing a task is only a record. Marking a task complete through the MCP does not send the email or make the call; it just checks it off.

6. When to open the Amplemarket app instead

The MCP is the fastest way to research and to set things up, but some work is easier in the app itself. Amplemarket's help center lists the step types and limits for sequences built through the MCP, so for an elaborate multichannel sequence, building it in the app is simpler. Amplemarket has also changed manual tasks so they open in regular browser tabs, which lets an assistant such as Claude work through a batch of manual tasks with you in the browser. And anything you would rather see laid out, such as a long analytics dashboard, is still a click away in Amplemarket.

Getting started: if you are new to Amplemarket, every plan starts with a free trial, and you can also book a demo: start a free trial or book a demo with Amplemarket (grow.amplemarket.com/thg60a) (opens in new tab). If you already use it, connect the MCP from Settings, then Integrations, and try the Tuesday prompts on your own market first: that is where most founders will feel the difference.

7. Frequently asked questions

Do I need an API key to connect Amplemarket to Claude or ChatGPT? No. The MCP uses OAuth: you sign in with your Amplemarket account and approve access. Amplemarket says setup takes less than a minute.

Which AI tools does the Amplemarket MCP work with? Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Grok Bot, and any other MCP-compatible client through the connector address https://mcp.amplemarket.com/mcp.

Can the assistant send emails on its own? It can launch a sequence and enroll leads if you ask it to, so the routine above keeps every sequence in draft until you have read it. Reply drafts in Unibox stay drafts until you send them.

Can my co-founder use it too? Yes. Each person connects and signs in separately, and the assistant sees only what that person's Amplemarket account can see. On Claude's Team and Enterprise plans an owner enables the connector for the organization first.

Which model should I use? Amplemarket recommends Claude Opus, the flagship GPT model or Gemini Pro for multi-step work, and warns against the smallest, fastest models for anything beyond a single lookup.

8. How we wrote this guide

We wrote this guide from Amplemarket's own material, read on November 2, 2026: its announcement post "Run outbound in Claude and ChatGPT with Amplemarket" (March 6, 2026, updated with the tools shipped by September 2026), its help center article "Connecting to Amplemarket MCP", which lists every tool, the setup steps and the model guidance, and its pricing page, which states that all plans include a free trial. The prompts are examples we wrote to show a routine; they are not results we measured. StartupPerks is an Amplemarket partner, and this is a paid partnership.
